Dennis Locorriere

Posted on 18 May 2026 by Brian Walsh

Dennis Locorriere, founding member of the ’70s country rock band Dr Hook and the Medicine Show, has died at the age of 76.

The When You’re in Love with a Beautiful Woman singer died on Saturday following a “long and courageous battle with kidney disease”, his reps shared in a statement released on Sunday.

“Dennis faced his illness with remarkable strength, dignity, and resilience throughout, and remained deeply cherished by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his warmth, love, and the lasting impact he had on those around him,” the statement read. “We would like to thank everyone who supported Dennis during his journey and ask for privacy for his loved ones as they grieve this profound loss.”

The New Jersey-born singer and guitarist co-founded Dr Hook and the Medicine Show in 1969, serving as the band’s bassist and lead singer, and having chart success with songs including Sylvia’s Mother, Carry Me Carrie, and The Cover of Rolling Stone, sung by the band’s Ray Sawyer, who died in 2018.

After shortening their band name to Dr Hook in the mid-’70s, Locorriere and the band scored more hits with Sexy Eyes and Better Love Next Time. Following the band’s farewell tour in 1985, Locorriere retained the rights to the group’s moniker and continued touring as Dr Hook. He announced in November 2025 that he would retire from touring.

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, returns to the top of Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as his landmark album Thriller leads the ranking dated May 16.

The album’s resurgence was fueled by the release of Michael, sending it back to No. 1 for the first time in four decades.

Thriller, released in November 1982, is recognized as the world’s best-selling album by Guinness and as the highest-certified studio album by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Thriller earned 62,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. during the tracking week of May 1-7, according to Luminate. The album improved 36% from the prior week’s total of 45,000 units.

Of its 62,000 units this week, streaming activity contributed 48,000 units, equaling 50.3 million official on-demand audio and video streams of its tracks. Traditional album sale purchases yielded 13,000 units, while the remaining 1,000 units were derived from track-equivalent albums.

Sir Paul McCartney and Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher have secured places on this year’s Sunday Times Rich List, as the annual rankings reveal the wealthiest figures in British music.

McCartney remains the only musician in UK history to reach billionaire status, with the former Beatle and his wife, Lady Nancy listed with a combined fortune of £1.055 billion.

Their wealth continues to rise through touring, publishing, catalogue reissues and the enduring commercial power of The Beatles’ legacy, which remains one of the most valuable cultural brands in the world.

Further down the list, Noel and Liam Gallagher – who made a triumphant return after 16 years with their Oasis Live ’25 tour last year – make a joint appearance with an estimated £375 million between them.

Blondie

Posted on 15 May 2026 by Brian Walsh

Blondie lead vocalist Debbie Harry and Pamela Anderson will star as mother and daughter in new indie comedy film, Maitreya.

The film follows a rising star in the New Age healing community, who brings her estranged family to a conference to test her healing theories, all while secretly gathering material for her next book.

Anderson plays the title character, Maitreya. While preparing for the conference in India, she learns her father is dying. Instead of staying home, she takes her dysfunctional family to the conference to test her healing theories and gather material for a new book.

Harry plays the role of Maitreya’s mother, Barbara. The 80 year-old punk/new wave singer, who has acted in dozens of films, has been off the big screen for more than a decade.

Jonathan Krisel is directing the film based on Samuel D. Hunter’s script. The film’s producer Caviar plans to launch the production later this year.
